Sometime in 2005 Bill (William) Allitt thought that it was time to hold another Allitt Re-union.
Consulting with Edgar Allitt who was heavily involved in the previous reunions I was able to track down some 80 families names. My sister, Louise Eldridge was co-opted to co-ordinate the replies make the cake do the banking etc.

A date was set for the event to be held at Deniliquin as the majority of Allitt's still resided in the district.
April 29th and 30th were the dates selected.
As is usual with these events we clashed with many other family engagements and had several apologies as well as cost associated with going was sited as a major obstacle, however, Louise, and myself were not in a position to subsidise the event.

Due to several deaths of senior members of the family, many of these relations did not reply or attend.
Having an initial expectation of 50-60 attendee's we were initially quite nervous with the lack of replies especially from the locals as the RSVP day came and went.

Decision time - cancel or go ahead. As we had the majority of replies from afar it was decided to go ahead and hope that the locals would arrive on the day.

We had attendee's from Orange, Sydney, Adelaide, Geelong, Swan Hill, Barham, Leeton, Jeparit, Jandakot, Nyabing, New Gisborne, Wodonga, Berrigan as well as Deniliquin.

Fees were set at Family registration $25 per family, this included hall hire, mail out and printing of invitations and afternoon tea. Evening meal, of $35 per head adult and $16.00 for Children.
Entertainment was provided by, Alex Allitt, a renowned Bush Poet, with Will Eldridge, a member of the Berrigan Bush Band, who entertained us with a few songs.

Sunday was a brunch at a local café, where we were able to catch up again, it was pleasing to see so many of the littlies there, who though it is tough for them to be entertained for the long period where adults just talk and talk, they were a credit to their families in the way they stuck it out.

Many thanks, to Ruth McLaine and Rae Hort, who bought lots of Family history documents and books etc. It was a credit to them for maintaining such a comprehensive record.

The initial "The History of the Allitt Family in Australia since 1852" is being retyped and put onto electronic format and will be available sometime towards the end 2006, as we must replace the photos, which may take some doing.
